available. Can I rent The Great Lake Getaway
and what are the next steps?
The
availability calendar
is kept up to date with confirmed
bookings. However, there might be a
tentative reservation for the week you want.
We will tell you when you ask. If The Great
Lake Getaway is available we require a 50%
deposit. Once your cheque is received, your
booking is confirmed and the dates will be
entered into the availability calendar -
note that a major credit card is need to
hold bookings in high season.
When I send
you a cheque, will you send me confirmation
or can we sign an agreement?
Yes. A confirmation email will be sent when
we receive your deposit cheque. A Rental
Agreement will be mailed for you to
complete, sign and return. See the

How far away is the access to the beach?
The Great Lake Getaway is a waterfront
property that faces Lake Ontario (south
exposure). The property is 27 meters wide
150 meters long with the beach directly in
front of the cottage approximately 100
meters walking distance. It is flat terrain;
there are no steps or seawall.
What is the beach like?
In front of
the cottage the beach is pebble and
depending on the time of year and the water
level in the Great Lakes, there are varying
widths of sand before you get to the water.
Lake Ontario is a natural shoreline and as
such waves will deposit various sea, bird,
plant life and algee. The Great Lake
Getaway is situated on Popham bay and is
generally great for swimming because it is
warm and shallow; however the beach and
waterfront are ever changing depending on
the wind and waves. The lake bottom is
typically sand or a mix of sand and beach
pebbles.
Is it a private beach?
Yes.
Ownership extents to the waters edge and is
private property. This is the same for all
waterfront owners in the area, but it is
accepted for others use the beach as a
walkway, typically to access the adjacent
sand beach of Presquile. Boat mooring, boat
launching, camping or picnicking by any
other than those listed on the rental
agreement and their guests is considered
trespassing, as this is private property.
Are
sleeping arrangements available for more
than 4 adults?
No. The Great
Lake Getaway can accommodate a maximum of 4
adults plus two children. There are three
bedrooms, two with a queen bed and the other
with single bunk beds
Is there a fireplace?
There is a gas fireplace in the living room
which is only available in the cooler
weather. It is disabled June through August.
What do I need to bring?
The Great
Lake Getaway has a fully equipped kitchen
with all appliances, dishes and housewares.
You will need to bring bath and kitchen
towels, bedding and paper products, your
personal effects and groceries.
Where is the nearest town?
The Great Lake Getaway is located in the
town of Brighton. Consisting of about 4,500
people,
Brighton has a lot to offer. Here are some
of the services: 2 Supermarkets Sobeys and
No Frills, 2 banks CBIC and Royal Bank,
Liquor and beer store, 2 pharmacies, Public
library, Tennis courts, Ball diamonds,
Building and Hardware stores and propane
refill centres.
Can I bring my
boat?
Yes, by all
means.
Brighton has 2 different marinas and lots of
great sailing or power boating. Only minutes
to the Murray Canal which provides access to
the Bay of Quinte and the Trent River
system, famous worldwide for its pickerel
(walleye) fishing. A 20 minute ride across
the bay takes you to Wellers Bay, where
locals gather on sunny weekends.
Is there
Internet access?
No. there is
no phone line, However we are located in a
strong cell area so mobile phones work fine
and you'll have no problem staying in touch.
High speed Internet access is available at
the Public Library, which is a 10 minute
drive. |
